Commissioning a PaintingWhere possible, it's important for me to meet the subject of a painting in order to capture them fully. If you live locally (in or near East Yorkshire) I would like to travel to you to discuss what kind of portrait you want, and to take photographs of you/the subject of the painting.
I do occasionally work from photos that are sent to me - but please bear in mind that the quality of the finished painting is greatly affected by the quality of the photos sent. It's useful to have a large selection to choose from, of a high resolution. PricesOil paintings will be unframed, and painted on quality canvas boards, standard depth canvases, or deep canvases - whichever you prefer.
The sizes listed in the table below indicate approximate sizes for 'small', 'medium' and 'large', but you may want your painting done to different dimensions. Please note: The prices listed below are for single portraits. Prices will increase if, for example, you require more than one person in a painting, or the inclusion of a pet. Given more information, I am happy to provide an exact quote.
Postage and PackingIf you live locally, I will try to arrange for a handover of the painting - if this is not convenient, your artwork will be packaged securely and sent via Royal Mail’s Special Delivery next day service. Based on the sizes listed in the table above, the cost for postage & packing will be: £10 (small), £15 (medium), £20 (large). I am afraid that at the moment I am only sending paintings to locations within the UK.
PaymentWork will begin on your portrait after the payment of a non-refundable deposit, which is 20% of the total cost of the painting.
Provided you are happy with the finished work, the balance of the cost - plus any delivery costs, is payable. If you do not live locally, I can email you an image of the portrait for you to approve. When payment has been received, the portrait will posted to you. I will make every effort to create a painting you are completely happy with. If you are not satisfied with the painting, you will not be obliged to pay the remaining balance and it will not be despatched. TimescaleOil paintings generally take between 1-4 months to complete, depending on my current workload. When you get in touch we can discuss a more exact timescale. (If you have a specific deadline in mind, please let me know).
Please visit my Contact page if you have any questions or comments, or if you wish to commission a portrait. Thank you! |
